The Southern Nevada Chapter of the International Code Council gives Clark County a $2,500 grant to offer kids under the age of four years old swim classes. " Drowning is the leading cause of injury-related death in children under age four in our community," Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones said. First responders made a point to say, "that drowning is one of the toughest calls to respond to because it is preventable". They are trying to remind the community of the three steps to prevent drowning. The three steps are patrol, protect, and prepare. These three acts can save a child's life. The Southern Nevada Chapter of the International Code Council donated $20,000 to eight government areas and Clark County was lucky enough to be one. You can sign up your children for the classes starting May 23rd on the Clark County website under the park and recreation area through the pool/aquatic area. The classes will be available on a first come first serve basis. If you are unable to sign up, Clark County offers swimming lessons throughout the year at multiple locations.
